Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, combine ground pork (or shrimp), soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, white pepper, sugar, green onion, garlic, and cornstarch. Mix well until the filling is evenly combined.
- Step 2: Wrap the Wontons
- Place a wonton wrapper flat on your palm.
- Add about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of the wrapper.
- Wet the edges of the wrapper lightly with water using your fingertip.
- Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal.
- For a classic shape, bring the two outer corners together and press to seal, creating a “boat” shape. Alternatively, leave them as triangles.
- Step 3: Fry the Wontons
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or wok to 170-180°C (340-360°F).
- Fry the wontons in batches, ensuring they do not overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Step 4: Dipping Sauce (Optional)
- Mayonnaise
- Sweet chili sauce.
- Garlic chili sauce.
- Step 5: Serve
- Serve the fried wontons hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
